Whale Tail
by Bob Arko
16" x 20", Acrylic on Canvas
When a Sperm Whale sounds, he begins with a diving roll so only the "knuckles" of his backbone are visible at the surface, like a speeding roller coaster. The last view of him from the surface is of his flukes as they break the water and then curve back under as he dives deep, in excess of 1000 feet.
In the collection of Ms. Monica Heuser.
